NUS Scotland President Sai Shraddha S. Viswanathan: ‘This victory shows the power in students and workers standing together’

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), has given notice to all of Scotland’s Further Education colleges of a programme of sustained strike action in a long running dispute over pay.

This marks an escalation in the pay dispute, following months where members of the EIS-Further Education Lecturers Association (EIS-FELA) have engaged in action short of strike, comprising a resulting boycott and work to contract.

NUS Scotland conference celebrates the united work of students, apprentices and workers to improve the learning and working conditions of people across Scotland.

She urged students to stand in solidarity with striking staff, whilst also assuring students that the STUC were in solidarity with them and would continue to help in students' fight to secure better student support, lower rents, and higher quality education.
